Business Beat

Firehouse Brothers Auto Sales & Service

Firehouse Brothers Auto Sales Service opened its doors in December of 2013 and is owned by Michael and Terri Fasolo and Jimmy and Barb Guarascio. Both families are native to Utica, New York.

Co-Owners, Michael and Terri, who live in Plantation Lakes, relocated to Myrtle Beach in 2012. They moved exactly ten days after Jimmy and Barb made the move.  Both families have known each other for well over thirty years. Michael and Jimmy, both retired firefighters, have worked together since 1985 and have been good friends ever since. Terri and Barb have known each other since high school.

Michael and Terri had vacationed in Myrtle Beach for 17 years before making the decision to make the move permanently. Being from upstate New York, where there is no shortage of cold winters and snow. They enjoyed vacationing in the warm weather and knew they would eventually move to the Myrtle Beach area. They began the process of looking for a second home in 2012, little did they know, that would turn into a permanent move sooner than they expected or as Terri will tell you sooner than she expected. After the move they enjoyed being retired and spending time on the beach. However a new adventure would bring some change to their retired life.

When Michael and Jimmy decided to begin the journey of opening an automotive sales & service business after retiring to the area, Terri and Barb thought they had lost their minds. Terri never enjoyed the process of buying a car, much less having one serviced, because she always felt taken advantage of. So when Michael shared the idea of opening a car business, she said to him “if this is what we are going to do, you’re going to treat people fair and be good to people and treat them how we would want our family to be treated”. With Michael and Jimmy’s background as firemen, they knew they would run their business using the same code of values that they lived by as firefighters. Terri and Barb are also a big part of the business; both bring their administrative and managerial experience to manage the office. Both are hoping to eventually be able to spend more time enjoying the beach and less time at the office.

At Firehouse Brothers they consider their employees family and before opening their doors they asked them to write down five words that meant the most to them and those words would become their core values: Family, Trust, Integrity, Loyalty and Accountability, with family being number one. Living by these values every day brings a level of service that they feel everyone deserves and expects.

Firehouse Brothers offers a great selection of pre-owned vehicles with a full service automotive and repair department. Their service department does anything from oil changes to engine repair or replacement. They have built their business around these values and intend to be in business for many years, once you purchase a vehicle, they will be here to provide service for your vehicle or any vehicle you own.

Supporting their community is also very important to them. They recently participated in a Golf Tournament fundraiser to support the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes. They’ve participated in Books and Boogie, Backpack Buddies, Red Cross Fund Raisers, Myrtle Beach Fire Department Hockey Tournament for MDA, The Humane Society and have also sponsored several community events. Their focus is family and community. They want to provide great service to their neighbors and be part of their community. They want everyone to feel comfortable when shopping for a car, whether they are looking for a pre-owned vehicle for their son or daughter or shopping for themselves.

Having never been in the car business before, they feel that is what makes them different and unique because the priority is not all about the almighty dollar. It’s more about providing the service and experience first and the success will automatically come. It has always been very important to them to recognize the sacrifice and dedication that all first responders, veterans, educators make in their life, which is why they provide discounts to Firefighters, police, veterans, emergency workers, educators and school district employees.

If you are looking for a nice pre-owned vehicle for your family or need your car serviced, drop by and visit Firehouse Brothers Auto Sales and Service and see if they can help you find your next car. Look for their cool and awesome sign that reflects their careers and values as retired firefighters.
